Wet & Wild Nail Polish in Night Prowl. Dupe for China Glaze Awakening Collection’s Mummy May I?

Wet & Wild Nail Polish in Night Prowl (US$0.99)

I spotted this while browsing at Walgreens & was tempted to get it. I resisted for the whole of five minutes before I grabbed it. It’s purple & glittery. Enough said πŸ˜€

This is a pretty purple glitter that has a black jelly base.

This is three coats with no top coat.

It does look a little gritty but I expect that with most glitters. This is something that a top coat like Seche will fix πŸ˜€

Someone on MUA (makeupalley) posted her swatches of China Glaze Awakening Collection’s Mummy May I & I noticed that it looked very similar to WnW Night Prowl. I conferred with her (she has both), & she reported that they are very similar except that China Glaze Mummy May I has bigger glitter particles. So for those of you on a budget, looks like you only need to have one of the two!

*This is purchased by me. You can find it at any drugstore that sells Wet & Wild.

Dupe or not? OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous & China Glaze Jitterbug

I think it’s the nature of the beast that there are only a number of possible color combinations that there are bound to be overlaps at times. This is one of those times.

OPI recently released Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous in its Swiss collection & China Glaze released Jitterbug in its Vintage Vixen collection. Both looks very similar & being a glitter fan, I had to get it despite them looking similar.

Once swatched, you can see a very slight difference. OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is always on the left while China Glaze Jitterbug is on the right.

One coat with no top coat.

These are two coats with no top coat.

As you can see, OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous looks a tad warmer with a slight gold toneΒ  while China Glaze Jitterbug is a cooler silver tone. Without swatching them side by side, I doubt you can really tell the difference. So depending on which skintone you are, you probably only need one of these πŸ˜€

*These were purchased by me for me. You can obtain them at Ulta, Sally’s Beauty or any store that sells OPI & China Glaze.

Yes I am still alive :D Presenting Nicole by OPI – Blue Lace

Yes I’m still alive! πŸ˜€ Sorry for being MIA (missing in action) but real life had been keeping me very busy. & it seems like things will only get busier from now on which is good for my bank account but bad for blogging! πŸ˜€ I will definitely try to get at least a post out every week πŸ˜€

As some of you might know, I got super bored of makeup. I blame Olivia142 for her infectious mood πŸ˜› So I am going to blog about what I am been obsessed about recently, which are nail polishes. πŸ˜€

Nail polishes are awesome! They don’t go ‘bad’ (nothing a bottle of thinner can’t fix), they suit you when you’re skinny or fat. Best of all, there’s a finish or color for everyone! πŸ˜€ My personal favourites are blues, purples & greens in that order. Nothing makes me happier than a bright blue nail polish πŸ˜€

So to kick off the start of my first nail polish post, I present a nail polish from Nicole by OPI – Blue Lace.

To start, I really dislike the shape of the bottles of Nicole by OPI. What were they thinking? Nothing about the bottle shape appeals to me at all. In fact, it annoys me which is why this is my only Nicole by OPI polish.

Now the polish itself is really pretty!

This is a swatch with one coat (no top coat)

I tend to go heavy on my nail polish application instead of thin coats so this might not be an accurate representation of how it will look if you apply it thinly.

This is it with two coats (no top coat)

Can you see the gorgeousness??? Look at the tiny blue shimmers within the polish! & this is how shiny it is without a top coat! πŸ˜€ I might change my mind & grab more nicoles just because this is so pretty!

No idea on wear yet since I just got this yesterday. Have an interview tomorrow so I’m wearing a nude nail polish at the moment.

Bonus picture to make up for my absence.

Hope that everyone’s enjoyingΒ  their weekend!

Adios~

This nail polish is purchased by me. You can obtain them at Walmart, Target or other places stated on their website here.

My Lip Palette Project

So I had a bunch of brand new drugstore lipsticks lying around so I thought I’ll make my own lip palette! πŸ˜€ I know most people dislike palettes but I like them!

Took me quite some time but I managed to make two of these palettes. I did contemplate selling these but I doubt it’s feasible since it takes half a brand new lipstick to fill one of those pans. Oh well~ πŸ˜€

Shu Uemura 2010 Fall/Winter

Got an email with the latest Shu Uemura promotion code this morning. That’s how I discovered Shu’s Fall/Winter 2010 palettes.

I don’t really follow the major blogs so I haven’t seen the pictures of Shu fall till this morning.

This palette has my name all over it. The purples! I have a thing for purple shadow & this palette will only be made perfect if they swapped out that grey shadow for a taupe shadow!

This palette doesn’t excite me as much although I wonder if that is a taupe on the right. Colors on screen don’t always correspond to colors in real life or on you so hmmm….

This lashes do not appeal to me at all. Much prefer some of the previous collection lashes like the marine blue lashes *gasp*

As you can see, the current promotion is that with any purchase of $50 or more, you can receive a deluxe 2 piece set with code FALLTREND while supplies last.

Knowing me, I’ll waffle over this for a little bit more. Current need is to get more z palettes πŸ˜€ You’ll see why in the next post πŸ˜€

Depotting

This is what I had been doing over the weekend in preparation for my coming z palettes. Depotting is addicting. Once I got the hang of it, I wanted to depot everything! Had to resist the temptation to depot items that I am unsure about. But those that I intend to keep, they got depotted! πŸ˜€

Here are the pictures.

Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadows are a pain to depot. First the pans are really soft aka easy to dent. The shadows are softer aka crumbly. Out of five, I managed to get two perfect depots only to drop one of them as I was cleaning the back of the pan -__- You can easily just add alcohol & repress. However three of them remained crumbly. Oh well~

Can’t wait for my Z palettes to get here!

** I dedicate this to Olivia142 πŸ˜€ She gave me the motivation to depot alot of these babies πŸ˜€

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze in Forever Raisin 540

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze in Forever Raisin 540 (US$6.99 to US$8.99)

Color of the tube is most accurate in the second picture.

Revlon is probably the best drugstore brand in my books. I love their colorburst lipsticks. I cannot wear their foundations (no color match & breaks me out) but I know of a number of people who swear by them. This lipglaze in my books is a winner.

This looks more like a deep rose than a raisin color to me. It looks a little orangy when it’s sheered out but that might be due to my skintone (NC25 Asian). Fairer ladies who are not used to wearing a strong lip can easily sheer this color. It does not feel sticky to me (especially after the B&BW lipgloss) & staying power is moderate. It does come off when I drink but it leaves my lips with a nice slight rosy stain.

The smell bugs me. It smells like a sugared cookie (to me) & is way too strong. 😦 Luckily the scent goes off after a few minutes or it could be my nose getting sensitized to the smell. πŸ˜› Either the smell goes away & I am glad!

You can see this compared with some of my other glosses here.

Conclusion: It’s a pretty color & I like it enough to keep it πŸ˜€ The smell really bugs me as it’s really strong & am not a scent that I’m fond of. Wished Revlon will lose the smell or make it less scented.

* Purchased by me & can be found at any drugstore or grocery store where Revlon is sold.
